Windows Phone 7 Rom already ported to HD2?

Woah! Shortly after Microsoft announced that it has no plans to add Windows Phone 7 support to the HTC HD2, a few Russian hackers ported a WP7 Rom to the HD2. Everything is reported to run fine, wifi, gps, data, etc, with the exception of the graphics driver, which is reportedly "choppy" at the time.

Microsoft wouldn't support Windows Phone 7 for the HD2 because the HD2 "lacked a hardware bing search key". The hackers have announced that a Beta rom is in development, but no words of when it will be released.

Here's a quick update, someone emailed me a video of Windows Phone 7 running on the HD2 itself.

iPad knock-off's Already in Production?!

Woah! That was quick, apparently Shenzhen Huayi (a Chinese company notoriously known for Apple Knock-offs) has already began production of an iPad knock off. The price President Xiong Yiwei of Shenzhen Huayi said in an interview that they are looking to launch the "iPad" April 3rd, for 2000 yuan (US$290) on the same day as the real iPad.

President Xiong Yiwei of Shenzhen Huayi said:

"After developing modules, we basically made the designs to look like a jumbo iPhone. The profit margin of counterfeit cell phones reached up to 30 percent in the past, but only 10 yuan (US$1.50) profit margin is made per one product. We had a great expectation of netbooks last year, but only 100 yuan (US$15) profit margin was made. The success of iPhonish product is a matter of life or death for us."

Interestingly enough, the OS looks nothing like the actual iPad Os, so it's hard to tell if it will actually "catch on" with the public, and sell.

Best Buy Leaked Inventory Pics Reveal iPad to be sold at Best Buy On Launch Day

New images (courtesy of Engadget) show what "appears" to be leaked inventory pictures from Best Buy showing the launch date, accessories, etc. If the pictures are to be presumed accurate, Best Buy will be launching Apple's new iPad April 11th, with a host of new accessories. It was previously rumored that Best Buy would be selling it at their store's, but now we have photographic evidence of it. The iPad will be launching April 11th, for $499 for the cheapest model, and up to $699 for the 64GB, 3G model.

The real problem still awaits, which is the availability of the iPad. If the iPad launch is going to be anything like the Iphone 3gs launch, this could be chaotic. Even in this economy, the iPad pre-orders are sky-rocketing, surpassing previous expectations.

Looking further into the leaked images, apparently the iPad's will arrive at select Best Buys, April 2nd, during the night. The question isn't about "will it sell?" anymore, but more of when and where. Keep in mind, these are all rumors (although, we practically know that Best Buy is selling the iPad on Launch day) but there are still rumors that other stores will be selling them sometime after the initial launch day.
